Corrie launches menu competition for Rovers Return

Rovers Return, the famous pub from Coronation Street, is famous for Betty’s hotpot, which Betty Williams, otherwise known as Betty Driver, has served up for many years. However there may soon be some competition looming as Coronation Street bosses have got together with ITV’s This Morning to have a new dish created by a fan of the popular show.

The competition, simply called ‘Cook A Dish For Corrie’ means that one lucky person will see their dish on the menu in the iconic pub. People can enter the competition either through the Coronation Street or This Morning website. They need to send in it’s ingredients, a photo of it and testimonials from friends and family.

The competition closes on 4th January and is being run as part of the 50th anniversary of the soap. On the closing date Corrie producers, along with a panel of food experts, will whittle down all the entries to just 10 dishes. There will then be an online vote, taking place over a week, which will see the 10 dishes shortlisted to just 3. There will then be a live cook-off on This Morning to decide the winner, which will be judged by chef Phil Vickery and several cast members from the show.

The winning dish will appear on the menu at the Rovers Return, which we think is an amazing prize for any fan of the soap. Betty Driver said; “I’m immensely proud and somewhat protective of my hot pot so I challenge anyone to give it a run for its money!” May the best dish win!
